Children’s Civil War Camp

The historic Winslow House was the venue for kids from first grade on up to high school age to meet with Civil War re-enactors and to learn about the War Between the States. Kids could learn about what a soldier wore, what he ate, what he did while in camp, how he marched, what medicine was used, what music was played, and what women would have done during this same time. Re-enactors from the Massachusetts 22nd Volunteer Regiment took part and showed the kids various aspects to soldiers’ existence during this time.

Our thanks to Patrick Browne of Duxbury and to all the re-enactors for organizing and participating in this event.
