Calling All Volunteers!

Jess Wilder

It's that time of year again. Local 3rd graders are visiting The Winslow House in May and June. We need lovers of history to help us usher in the next generation of history buffs!

Do you love Marshfield’s history ? Do you enjoy working with 3rd graders ? Do you believe leaning about local history creates civic pride ? If so- do I have an opportunity for YOU !

Every year every 3rd grader in Marshfield- all of the 5 elementary schools board a bus and come to the grounds of the Historic Winslow House. We divide them into small groups with chaperones and they rotate from space to space where a volunteer greets them and shares info and answers questions. It is a most enjoyable experience for the students and volunteers alike. We need more volunteers to ensure the best visit for the students. I will supply the info and sources and other reading material. It is a insightful study. It is 5 mornings, no earlier than 8:30 and ends no later than 12:30. I am beginning to hear from the teachers so booking the dates is the next step. The Winslow House, The Marshfield Historical Society and the Marshfield Historical Commission together work to ensure a really fun educational experience. We urge the students to come dressed for the Colonial Days.
