About the event
Local historian, Will Stillwell presents the story of Abijah White, a descendent of Peregrine White and a loyalist from Marshfield. Â Â Abijah White was working with British soldiers to repair Boston Light when they were attacked by patriot forces. Â Abijah was shot and later died. Â The Revolutionary War is celebrated as a fight for freedom and the birth of our country, as it should be. Â However, it was also a war in which neighbors were pitted against neighbors and families were divided. Â We side with the patriot cause now, but it was not always so simple. Â Loyalists experienced tragedy and sometimes faced terrible consequences. Â Join us for this important story and learn about a side of American history that is not often discussed - through the eyes of a local man.
