About the event

Local historian, Will Stillwell presents the story of Abijah White, a descendent of Peregrine White and a loyalist from Marshfield.   Abijah White was working with British soldiers to repair Boston Light when they were attacked by patriot forces.  Abijah was shot and later died.  The Revolutionary War is celebrated as a fight for freedom and the birth of our country, as it should be.  However, it was also a war in which neighbors were pitted against neighbors and families were divided.  We side with the patriot cause now, but it was not always so simple.  Loyalists experienced tragedy and sometimes faced terrible consequences.  Join us for this important story and learn about a side of American history that is not often discussed - through the eyes of a local man.
